J. Agarwal et al., QUALITATIVE-ANALYSIS OF NONLINEAR DYNAMICAL-SYSTEMS, Computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, 145(1-2), 1997, pp. 135-145
Developments in non-linear dynamics have shown that a variety of non-l
inear deterministic systems with no random inputs can produce random-l
ike or chaotic motions. However, much computational effort is required
to identify and analyse chaotic behaviour. We present a powerful meth
odology to simulate and extract the qualitative behaviour of non-linea
r systems on a massively parallel Connection Machine. As an example, a
simple physical system is analysed to show the effectiveness of the s
cheme. It is shown that such an analysis is important for designing ro
bust structures.
