If. Burshtein et Al. Poznyak, Crystal structure of (ethylenediaminemonoacetato)(2,2 '-bipyridine)copper(II) chloride tetrahydrate [Cu(Bipy)edma]Cl center dot 4H(2)O, RUSS J C CH, 25(4), 1999, pp. 276-278
X-ray structural analysis was carried out for [Cu(C4H9N2O2)(C10H8N2)]Cl . 4
H(2)O (lambda Mo, R = 0.0344 for 2514 reflections). The crystals are monocl
inic, a = 7.921(1), b = 18.036(2), c = 13.768(1) Angstrom, beta = 102.55(1)
degrees, Z = 4, rho(calcd) = 1.537 g/cm(3), space group P2(1)/c. The struct
ure consists of the complexed cations, chloride ions, and crystal water mol
ecules. The square coordination environment of the Cu atom is comprised of
two nitrogen atoms of the 2,2'-bipyridine molecule [Cu-N 1.997(4) and 2.028
(3) Angstrom] and two N atoms of the ethylenediaminemonoacetate ion [Cu-N 1
.999(3) and 2.020(4) Angstrom]; the O atom of its acetate group occupies th
e axial position [Cu-O 2.260(3) Angstrom].
