Abstract
Ketones 7 and 8, available from (-)-beta-pinene by Fe-catalyzed CO-insertio n, can be transformed into enantiomerically pure taxoidic A-ring building b locks like 10 or 13 via a concise and novel route. For the subsequent A,B-r ing synthesis, a ring closing metathesis approach is described for the firs t time.
