Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a new scaffold for molecular recognit ion and combinatorial chemistry is presented. Oxidative trimerization of ce rtain catechol ketals with MoCl5 gives a statistical mixture of isomers. Th e applicability of these molecules for combinatorial chemistry is shown and initial steps toward a new class of synthetic receptors are reported. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
