Abstract
Two isosporan species are described from the feces of the ocellated wo odcreeper, Xiphorhynchus ocellatus (Passeriformes: Dendrocolaptidae) c ollected in Ecuador. Isospora ocellati sp. n. sporulated oocysts are o voidal, double-layered, 20x17 (18-21x15-19) mu m with one polar body a nd no micropyle or residuum. The sporocysts are ovoidal, 12x8 (11-13x7 -9) mu m with dome-shaped Stieda bodies, compressed, bubble-shaped sub stieda bodies, and usually scattered residuum. Sporozoites are sausage -shaped with central nucleus and posterior refractile body. Isospora s triata sp. n. oocysts are ovoidal, double-layered, 18x16 (16-20x15-17) mu m with one polar body and no micropyle or residuum. The sporocysts are ovoidal 11x7 (11-12x7-8) mu m with nipple-shaped Stieda bodies, r ectangular-shaped substieda bodies, and spherical, compact, residuum. Sporozoites are elongate, tapered anteriorly with large posterior refr actile body, small central nucleus, and concentric rings around anteri or half of body.
