Abstract
Disorders of gastric motility result from diseases that interfere with trit uration and mixing of food particles with gastric secretions and from disea ses that interfere with timely gastric emptying. Motility disorders can be mechanical or functional in origin. Functional motility disorders include i nfection, inflammation, postgastric dilatation-volvulus, ulcer, and idiopat hic disease. Radiographic studies are used to confirm delayed gastric empty ing. Treatment consists of dietary management and gastric prokinetic agents .
