Abstract
The present study was conducted to determine the effect of intraoperative u se of acetylcholine on early postoperative intraocular pressure. Sixty pati ents scheduled for corneal incision phacoemulsification with intraocular le ns implantation were randomly assigned to receive 0.5 ml acetylcholine 1% o r 0.5 ml balanced salt solution as control group at the end of surgery. Res ults show that the pressure-lowering effect of acetylcholine may prevent th e acute postoperative rise in intraocular pressure.
