G. Paillat et A. Butet, SPATIAL DYNAMICS OF THE BANK VOLE (CLETHRIONOMYS-GLAREOLUS) IN A FRAGMENTED LANDSCAPE, Acta oecologica, 17(6), 1996, pp. 553-559
The abundance of bank voles was estimated at 27 sampling plots situate
d on a dyke network within an area of intensive agriculture. Local pop
ulations occupying hedge fragments, were characterised by different dy
namics. Local ''extinctions'' are interpreted in relation to the size
and the degree of isolation of hedge fragments. We hypothesize that, i
n this kind of landscape, this rodent may function as a metapopulation
.
