Abstract
We argue that ifa different definition of sentence complexity is adopted an d processing capacity is assessed in a way that is consistent with that def inition, then the Caplan & Waters distinction between interpretive versus p ostinterpretive processing is unnecessary insofar that it applies to the th ematic role assignment in relative-clause sentences.
