Abstract
In challenging current conceptions of the role of working memory in sentenc e processing. Caplan & Waters consider studies comparing young and older ad ults on sentence processing. This commentary raises two challenges to Capla n & Water's conclusions: first, working memory tasks appear to be age invar iant. Second, the production of complex syntactic constructions appears no to be age invariant.
