Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic disease in which cerebral and eye involv ement is neither common nor fully understood. Although it is rarely the cau se of pachymeningitis and optic neuritis, rheumatoid arthritis should alway s be kept in mind in these two conditions. We present a 52-year-old male wi th an 8 month history of rheumatoid arthritis who was referred to the neuro logy department with headache and decreasing vision and was diagnosed as ha ving rheumatoid pachymeningitis and optic neuritis on the basis of MRI find ings.
