Abstract
The propynide RbC=CCH3 is prepared from the reaction of propyne with a solution of the metal in liquid ammonia, and is characterised using m ainly X-ray powder diffraction, the tetragonal cell constants being co mpared with those of the lithium (extrapolated), sodium, potassium and caesium analogues.
