Abstract
The complexation of alkali metal cations (Na+ and/or K+) by organic-inorgan ic hybrid materials incorporating dibenzo-18-crown-6 ether moieties covalen tly linked to silica by two Si-C bonds is explained in terms of deformation s of the crown ether moiety during the sol-gel process.
