Abstract
Teaser bulls are often used in artificial insemination programs to detect e strus in cows and heifers. At the USDA Agricultural Research Service Meat A nimal Research Center, penile deviation and caudal epididymectomy technique s are used to create teaser bulls. These straightforward methods have been taught to veterinary students, allowing them to achieve a surgical success rate of 95% during the past 4 years, and are outlined in detail here. This is a method readily applicable to veterinary practice.
