Abstract
Recently there has been an interest in the development of anesthetic protoc ols suitable for one-humped camels. To prevent complications, camels should be fasted before they are anesthetized; proper restraint is also essential . Perianesthetic drugs include sedatives or tranquilizers. induction agents . and maintenance agents. Endotracheal intubation, which is highly recommen ded when prolonged recumbency is anticipated. protects the airway from gast rointestinal contents and thereby facilitates administration of oxygen and inhalation anesthetics. Monitoring techniques are similar to those followed in other species; cardiopulmonary function and anesthetic depth should be closely monitored during the perianesthetic period.
