Abstract
A family of transcription factors designated sterol regulatory element-bind ing proteins (SREBPs) mediates the previously described end-product feedbac k regulation of cholesterol biosynthesis. In addition, SREBPs are emerging as important regulators of fatty acid synthesis. The current review focuses on the in-vivo regulation of SREBPs in liver and the coordinate regulation of SREBP-activated target genes.
