Jd. Horton et I. Shimomura, Sterol regulatory element-binding proteins: activators of cholesterol and fatty acid biosynthesis, CURR OP LIP, 10(2), 1999, pp. 143-150
A family of transcription factors designated sterol regulatory element-bind
ing proteins (SREBPs) mediates the previously described end-product feedbac
k regulation of cholesterol biosynthesis. In addition, SREBPs are emerging
as important regulators of fatty acid synthesis. The current review focuses
on the in-vivo regulation of SREBPs in liver and the coordinate regulation
of SREBP-activated target genes. Curr Opin Lipidol 10:143-150, (C) 1999 Li
