Performance test is the basic way of breeding values estimation of potentia
l sires. Total of 200 Large White young boars were tested by the performanc
e test weighing from 28 to 101 kg of live weight during 84 days. The young
boars were kept individually and fed ad libitum. At average final age of 17
1.92 days the young boars achieved average daily weight gain 0.90 kg, feed
conversion 2.50 kg and fat thickness 13.99 mm. Significant phenotypic corre
lation (r) was found out between relevant fattening traits: daily weight ga
in : feed conversion = 0.669**, daily weight gain : daily feed consumption
= -0.530** daily weight gain : fat thickness = -0.177*, daily feed consumpt
ion : feed conversion = 0.813**, feed conversion : fat thickness = 0.190*.
Significant phenotypic correlation and relative indicators variability of f
attening indicate possibility of further selection progress. Pig productivi
ty in a herd may be significantly improved by using reproduction boars with
more than 100 index points.
