Abstract
The Social Phobia and Anxiety Scale for Children (SPAI-C) was translated in to German (SPAI-C-D). We presented the scale to two samples of 481 school-a ge children along with commonly used self-report measures of anxiety and al so obtained reacher ratings. The combined sample was also used to provide s ome normative data. Socially anxious and normal groups indicated a signific ant difference in total score. Furthermore, we investigated retest reliabil ity after two and four weeks. The SPAI-C-D appears to be a reliable and val id measure of childhood social anxiety. It successfully differentiates betw een socially phobic, socially anxious, and socially non-anxious children.
