E. Dudrova et al., EFFECT OF BORON ADDITION ON MICROSTRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF SINTEREDFE-1.5MO POWDER MATERIALS, ISIJ international, 37(1), 1997, pp. 59-64
The microstructure formation and mechanical properties of sintered mat
erials based on the prealloyed Fe-1.5wt%Mo powder with 0.2-0.6wt% of b
oron addition are investigated. An eutectic liquid phase Fe + Fe2B act
ivating the sintering of Fe-1.5Mo + B powder systems is formed. Beside
s this, an interaction of boron with the Fe-Mo prealloyed matrix occur
ed and the formation of fine particles containing molybdenum and boron
was registered. Due to this interaction the decrease of eutectic phas
e portion and strengthening of the matrix by borides was occurred. The
materials Fe-1.5Mo + 0.4wt%B achieved the tensile strength Rm = 487 M
Pa, the elongation A(5) = 2.5% and the hardness of 212 HV 30 at the de
nsity of 7.15 g.cm(-3) after sintering at 1200 degrees C for 30 min.
