Correction of hot-wire measurements in the near-wall region

A detailed numerical investigation on the corrections needed by hot-wire ve locity measurements in wall vicinity was performed. In the case of a perfec tly conducting wall the computed results agreed well with available experim ental data. At first, the numerical results for the case of an adiabatic wa ll contradicted previous experimental observations. However, a precise eval uation led to a better understanding of the entire problem.
