In this paper, two adaptive fuzzy control schemes for a class of nonlinear
systems are proposed. Each scheme employs a fuzzy control with an adaptive
law, and a compensation control. It is proved that the closed-loop system i
s asymptotically stable based on Lyapunov synthesis approach while the iden
tification of the controlled plant is unnecessary. Finally, these schemes a
re applied to control a chaotic system. The simulation results show that ou
