Abstract
A field experiment was conducted to find the ideal harvest stage of forage sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] varieties for higher seed yield at Hi sar, during the rainy (kharif) seasons of 1992 and 1993. Grains/ear, 1,000- seed weight and seed yield/ha were significantly higher in 'HC 136' than in 'HC 260' and 'HC 171'. Maximum seed yield of 1,523 and 1,576 kg/ha was rec orded 12 days after dough stage (35 days after anthesis) of harvest during 1992 and 1993 respectively. The varieties 'HC 136','HC 171' and 'HC 260' to ok 160, 137 and 114 days respectively to reach the 12 days after dough stag e of harvest.
