Abstract
The reactivity of 3-methyl-cis-2,6-diphenyl-4-piperidone 1 has been explore d to develop a variety of heterocyclic compounds viz., diazepinone 3, oxaze pinone 4, thiadiazole 8, gamma-carboline 13, isoxazolyl and pyrazolyl tetra hydropyridines 16 and 17 and various spiro heterocycles 18,19 and 21 by the functionalization of carbonyl and active methylene centres.
