N. Brianese et al., Preparation, properties and X-ray structure of a new lanthanum(III) trichloride complex with an asymmetric compartmental cyclic Schiff base, INORG CH C, 2(4), 1999, pp. 149-152
The lanthanum (III) complex [La(H2LA)(Cl)(3)] has been prepared by reaction
of the preformed ligand H2LA with LaCl3. 7H(2)O or by template procedure.
H2LA is the asymmetric [1 + 1] compartmental macrocycle containing an N3O2
Schiff base and an O2O4 crown-like site derived by the condensation of 3,3'
-(3,6-dioxaoctane-1,8-diyldioxy)bis(2-hydroxybenzaldehyde) and 1,5-diamino-
3-azamethylpentane. The X-ray structure of [La(H2LA)(Cl)(3)] shows that the
lanthanum ion fills the O2O4 site and is nine coordinated with a tricapped
trigonal prismatic environment; the coordination sphere about the central
metal ion is completed by three chlorine atoms. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S
