Abstract
A thin permalloy film with dimensions of 1 mu mX2 mu mX20 nm was simulated with a new three- dimensional method. The method is designed in such a way that the computing time scales roughly as N-1.5 in the number N of discreti zation elements used to describe the system. The Poisson equation is solved by a relaxation procedure and the energy is minimized with a damped molecu lar dynamics algorithm. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. [S0021-8979 (99)40908-9].
