Eam. Gad et al., Corrosion inhibition by N-(alkyloxycarbonylmethyl)-N-triethanol ammonium chloride with respect to the surface and thermodynamic properties, J CHEM TECH, 74(4), 1999, pp. 345-348
N-[(octyloxycarbonylmethyl)-N-triethanol ammonium chloride] (C-8), N-[(dode
cyloxycarbonylmethyl)-N-triethanol ammonium chloride] (C-12) and N-[(hexade
cyloxycarbonylmethyl)-N-triethanol ammonium chloride] (C-16) were synthesiz
ed. Surface tension was measured in aqueous solution for different concentr
ations at 28, 38 and 48 degrees C. Various surface properties of the synthe
sized surfactants were evaluated, particularly critical micelle concentrati
on (CMC), efficiency (Pi(CMC)) as well as maximum surface excess (Gamma(max
)) and minimum surface area (A(min)). Micellization and adsorption in both
liquid/air and liquid/solid interfaces thermodynamics were investigated. Th
ese products have pronounced surface activity and satisfactory corrosion in
hibition of C-steel in hydrochloric acid at 28, 38 and 48 degrees C. (C) 19
