Tetracationic cyclophanes and a [2]-catenane consisting of cyclobis(az
opyridinium-p-phenylene) were synthesized via the template-directed sy
nthesis. The charge transfer transitions and stability constants for s
upramolecular complexes with hydroquinone derivatives were evaluated b
y using visible spectroscopy and spectroscopic titration.
