Influence of oxygen on the growth of some oxide crystals

The growth of single-crystals SrLaA1O(4) (SLA) and SrLaGaO4 (SLG) by Czochr alski method at various oxygen pressure has been investigated. The best-qua lity crystals of [1 0 0] seed orientation are obtained at 50 ppm oxygen con tent in nitrogen. Brillouin scattering studies of as-grown and annealed SLG crystals showed an anisotropy in the acoustic wave propagation in the [1 0 0] and [0 1 0] directions.
