Abstract
The surgical management of bilateral synchronous nephroblastoma remains con troversial. The authors describe three cases treated using ex vivo tumor di ssection followed by autotransplantation in; an attempt to preserve functio ning renal tissue. Two children are alive and tumor free with adequate rena l function at 30 months and 3 years, respectively. One died from tumor recu rrence with metastases 9 months after surgery. This technique is an accepta ble alternative to bilateral nephrectomy followed by transplantation. Copyr ight (C) 1999 by W.B. Saunders Company.
