Abstract
Ultrasonic investigations of the spin-Peierls compound are reported an d analyzed on the basis of magneto-eleastic coupling. Sound velocity a nomalies reported recently for pure or doped CuGeO3 compounds can be i nterpreted using a simple theoretical model. We conclude that such ano malies ate completely independent of the existence of the spin-Peierls transition reported for the pure compounds.
