Abstract
We have previously shown that the high intensity of solar radiation, o btained with the Odeillo (France) solar furnace facilities, can be use d to vaporize graphite in inert gas atmosphere to produce fullerenes. After a short survey of the possible mechanisms of formation of these molecules, we report some results in agreement with the proposed model and discuss the possibilities of increasing the fullerene yield which currently reaches 20%.
