Abstract
It will be shown that it is possible to prepare short-circuit free LB sandwiches of a few monolayers only, if the cross sectional area is in the order of a few 10 mu m x 100 mu m. Current-voltage characteristic s recorded at liquid helium temperature show distinct features like th resholds and steps which can be interpreted in terms of resonant tunne ling and single electron effects. For an unambiguous assignment, howev er, more knowledge and better control of the organic/inorganic interfa ce is essential.
