Abstract
A hypothetical biosynthetic pathway for the conversion of farnesylpyrophosp hate into seaquichamaenol 1, a modified sesquiterpenoid isolated from Chaem aecyparis formosensis Matsum is proposed. The synthesis of 1 which lends ex perimental support to the proposed biosynthetic steps is reported.
