Abstract
The monophosphate tungsten bronzes show Peierls instabilities with tra nsition temperatures increasing with m. In the large m compounds, loca lisation effects are found in the charge density wave state. These pro perties are discussed in relation with the decrease of the electron de nsity with increasing m.
