Abstract
In response to the need for research on International Joint Ventures (IJVs) from developing countries, this paper examines the multivariate determinan ts of performance of 59 IJVs from both developing and developed countries i n a developing country context. Resource complementarity, cooperation, join t venture experience, technology and export-orientation were found to be si gnificant determinants of performance of joint ventures. While the determin ants varied for IIVs from developing and developed countries, there were no significant differences in their performance levels. The empirical finding s and their implications, including limitations and areas for further resea rch are discussed.
