Abstract
THC-11-oic acid, a non-psychoactive derivative of Delta(9)-THC, inhibits cy clooxygenase and platelet-activating factors, which are the mechanisms of p rostaglandin inhibition by the nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs (NSAID's). A dimethylheptyl THC (DMH-11 Q synthetic derivative was effective in treat ing animal models of acute and chronic inflammatory pain. The dru administe red per os was effective in doses of 0.1-0.2 mg/kg to suppress acute inflam mgation induced by interleukin- 1 beta and tumor necrosis factor, in the su bcutaneous air pouch model and reduce the chronic inflammatory response of adjuvant induced arthritis.
