Iv. Lindell et Ki. Nikoskinen, Two-dimensional image method for time-harmonic line current in front of a PEC cylinder, MICROW OPT, 21(3), 1999, pp. 217-222
The well-known electrostatic two-dimensional image theory involving a line
charge parallel to a PEC (perfectly electrically conducting) cylinder is ex
tended to the electromagnetic problem where the source is a time-harmonic c
urrent The image of the current line is presented as a cylindrical surface
current obeying an explicit series expression. It is shown that, by choosin
g the image cylinder properly, the convergence of the series can be dramati
cally improved by extracting a line image source. The expression is seen to
reduce to a simple line image besides the static limit case also and when
the distance of the line from the surface of the cylinder becomes infinitel
y large or vanishingly small. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
