Abstract
The T174M polymorphism (threonine (T) or methionine (M) in position 174 of the amino acid sequence) of the angiotensinogen (AGT) gene was studied in p atients with diabetes mellitus type 1 complicated with diabetic nephropathy (DN) (n = 26) or not complicated (n = 42). As compared with controls, the frequency of allele T in patients with DN was significantly lower (69.2% vs . 83.3%) and that of allele M was higher (30.8% vs. 16.7%). An association between the AGT gene polymorphism and DN in diabetes mellitus type 1 was su ggested for the Moscow population.
