We report a patient with acute interstitial nephritis induced by ciprofloxa
cin. Diagnosis was made difficult in this case because of a previous episod
e of acute renal failure secondary to legionella pneumonia.
We describe this rare association (intestitial nephritis and ciprofloxacin)
, as well as the difficult diagnosis given the prolonged anuria of the pati
ent. We carried out a bibliographic search in Medline (1992-1997) and comme
nt on the 26 cases published up to now. This association has to be consider
ed because of the frequent use of this antibiotic.
