Abstract
Outpatient detoxification of alcoholics still is a widely neglected area al though it is frequently administered for example in the US. Many general pr actitioners and clinicians overestimate its risks. Based on previous clinic al findings a model project for outpatient detoxification has been develope d, The concept and preliminary clinical findings of the first 20 patients t reated are presented.
