Abstract
A simple scheme for quantum non-demolition (QND) measurement of a Fock stat e stored in a high-Q cavity is proposed. The scheme utilizes well-defined a tomic center-of-mass momentum states in wave propagation direction, interac ting with an off-resonant cavity field in the Bragg regime. The same scheme can be applied for the formation of quantum Controlled-NOT logic gate. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
