Abstract
Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis strains isolated in two caseous lymphade nitis outbreaks in sheep and three caseous lymphadenitis outbreaks in goats diagnosed in the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic to date were chara cterized. The strains were tested for the biochemical activity, antibiotic susceptibility, production of phospholipase D, restriction endonuclease pro file and ribotype. Phenotype properties and genotype characteristics of the strains tested and the reference strains, CCM 2822 and ATCC 19410, were id entical. All the strains studied were identified as C. pseudotuberculosis b iovar ovis. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
