Abstract
Enantiopure C-2-symmetric bis(cyclic isothioureas), considered as potent in hibitors of glycosidases, have been synthesized from D-mannitol. The key st ep involved a mercuric-catalyzed transformation of a cyclic 1,3-thiazolidin e-2-thione into a 2-N-tert-butylamino-1,3-thiazoline. (C) 1999 Elsevier Sci ence Ltd. All rights reserved.
