The documentation of one's own psychotherapeutic activities is an essential
component of psychotherapeutic work. Especially for the training of psycho
therapists systems are required that allow the monitoring of therapeutic pr
ocesses, show therapy quality and therapist's adherence to training, and th
at can be applied to different therapeutic settings and psychological disor
ders.
In this study we present a standardized system for documentation that is cu
rrently used by the trainees of the training program in cognitive-behaviora
l therapy at the University of Bonn. It records different aspects of therap
eutic in-session quality. The system will be compared to earlier forms of c
ase formulation. Results of the evaluation of the documentation system art:
presented. Correlations between process variables and therapeutic quality
are mentioned. The documentation system is currently in use at several in-
and out-patient therapeutic institutions that cooperate with the training p
rogram of the University of Bonn.
