Abstract
A nucleic acid-based method for the detection of the bacterial pathogens Sa lmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes in biological waste was developed. The detection limits were less than 10 cells per mi of biological waste. T he method does not include a phenol extraction step and can be easily perfo rmed in 1 to 2 days.
