We investigated changes in gastric (antral and fundic) mucosal RNA contents
in single-dose and in long-term (10 weeks) treatment of rats with receivin
g oral graded doses of prostacyclin. Long-term application of prostacyclin
evoked no significant changes, while in the single-dose experiments there w
as a dose-dependent elevation in RNA-content in both parts of the gastric m
ucosa. The results are interpreted as convincing signs of the gastro-protec
tive effect of prostacyclin.
