Synthesis and bioactivities of novel organogermanium sesquioxides containing alpha-aminophosphonate groups

In order to search for novel antitumor drugs with high activity and low tox icity, a series of novel organogermamium sesquioxides containing alpha-amin ophosphonate groups were synthesized by the hydrolysis of O,O-diphenyl N-tr ichlorogermylpropiono-alpha-aminophosphonates. Their structures were confir med by H-1 NMR, P-31 NMR, and IR spectroscopy and by elemental analysis. Da ta of H-1 NMR and IR spectroscopy indicated that the title compounds are po lymeric organogermanium sesquioxides. The results of bioassay showed that t he products possess potential anticancer activities. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
