Abstract
(S)-(+)-Melodorinol and (S)-(+)-acetylmelodorinol have been synthesized by reacting the lithiated butenolide with 2,3-O-alkylidene-D-glyceraldehyde fo llowed by successive elimination, hydrolysis, benzoylation and acetylation reactions.
