Computer based analysis of the pH titration data on the Ni(II)-1,3-diaminop
ropane (A)-DL-2-aminobutyric acid, DL-3-aminobutyric acid, 4-aminobutyric a
cid and DL-4-amino-3-hydroxybutyric acid (B) systems show the presence of N
iAB and NiABH ternary complexes. Both the pH-metric and electronic spectral
measurements show that the 5 and 6 membered Ni(II) ternary complex chelate
s are markedly stable. The results indicate that the amino group of the ami
no acid secondary ligand is protonated in the NiABH species.
