Abstract
The effect of suplatast tosilate (IPD-1151T), which is known to suppress in terleukin (IL)-4 release from T cells, on the release of IL-4 and IL-13 fro m human peripheral basophils was investigated. Basophils were obtained from 16 mite-sensitive atopic asthmatic patients. IPD-1151T clearly inhibited t he antigen-induced release of IL-13 but not IL-4. These results suggest tha t IPD-1151T possesses different activity for the regulation of cytokine rel ease in basophils and T cells.
